Mr. Jeffrey Yem, Chief Operations Officer Prudential Assurance (M) Bhd (PAMB) through its Info Bulletin dated 14th August 2009 informed that PRUhealth will cover hospitalization expenses arising from A(H1N1) and its related conditions. Similarly, this extension of coverage will also apply to Group H&S. The Company will cover this disease consistent with older medical plans even though it is not mentioned in the policy document.
However, please note that the cover will only begin 30 days after the policy commences. Please also note that hospitalization primarily for investigatory and diagnostic purposes will not be covered.
Furthermore, he reassures the fact that the A(H1N1) is not life-threatening for the vast majority of people and that the chances of becoming chronically ill remain low. Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, who was quoted in the media recently, had called on the public not to be unduly alarmed because 98% of those who contracted the disease had recovered. As far as PAMB is concerned, the Company have received only 6 cases of A(H1N1) thus far and the patients have all recovered without any complications.
Nevertheless, the Company understands the concerns surrounding this disease and gives its assurance that they will remain committed to provide the care and cover for its customers. Hence, we in PAMB are proud to inform our customers that the Company covers for this epidemic, which is not covered by some of our competitors.
